Hormone Balancing Morning Routine for Cortisol

Image
Waking up exhausted and relying on coffee to function? Check your cortisol level. Photo: Laura Chouette/Unsplash.com Cortisol is your body’s main stress hormone. It’s a steroid hormone made by your adrenal glands, which sit on top of your kidneys. But calling it just the “stress hormone” is like calling water “the drowning liquid.” It misses the point. Healthy cortisol : High in the morning, gradually drops all day, lowest at night so melatonin can rise and you sleep.   Read related article : What-you-should-know-about-kidney-stone.html What triggers cortisol release :   • Waking up  • Exercise   • Low blood sugar / skipping meals   • Caffeine   • Mental stress, fear, deadlines   • Pain, illness, inflammation   • Dehydration   If you wake up exhausted, rely on coffee to function, and crash hard by 3pm, your cortisol rhythm is probably out of sync.   Magnesium-giving food. Photo: Nathan Dumlao/Unsplash.com Entering your 30s often brings a subtle yet profound shift in how your body operates. For many women, this decade marks the beginning of perimenopause —the transitional phase before menopause that can start as early as the mid-30s.  During this time, hormones like estrogen and progesterone begin a “roller coaster” of fluctuations, leading to symptoms like irregular periods, mood swings, adult acne, and unexplained weight gain. While lifestyle factors like diet and sleep are foundational, targeted natural supplements can help bridge nutritional gaps and support the body’s delicate endocrine system during this transition. 1. Essential Minerals: The Foundational Regulators Magnesium : The “Miracle Mineral” Magnesium is arguably the most critical mineral for women in their 30s. Best Foods for Follicular Phase Energy

Image
Cauliflower : One of the best foods for follicular phase energy. Photo: Irene Kredenets/Unsplash.com Follicular is the time from the first day of your period until ovulation. During the follicular phase, your body is essentially in “rebuild and rise” mode. As your period ends, your follicle-stimulating hormone ( FSH ) nudges your ovaries to prepare an egg, and estrogen begins its steady climb. When estrogen is on the rise, you often feel a natural boost in mood, social energy, and brain power. However, to sustain this upward trajectory without crashing, your nutrition needs to focus on blood sugar stability, estrogen metabolism, and follicle health. Here are the best foods to fuel your follicular phase energy. 1. Sprouted and Fermented Foods As estrogen increases, your gut microbiome (specifically the estrobolome ) works hard to process and circulate this hormone. The Picks: Sauerkraut, kimchi , kefir , and sprouted grain bread. The Benefit: Fermented foods provide probiotics that...

The Reasons You Feel 10 Years Older at 42

Image
For women,  aging starts in your ovaries and in your 30s You’re not just tired. You’re not just stressed. Your ovaries are aging. You wake up exhausted. Your jeans don’t fit. Your brain feels foggy. Your knees ache going up the stairs. Your doctor says “blood work is normal” and “maybe it’s perimenopause .” But your periods are still regular. You’re 42, not 52. So you blame yourself. You cut calories. You do more cardio. You buy the $90 “hormone balance” powder on Instagram. Nothing works. You feel 10 years older than your driver’s license. Here’s what no one told you : For women, aging doesn’t start with wrinkles. It starts in your ovaries. And it starts in your 30s. The wellness industry is finally catching up. Research now proves women age fundamentally differently than men. The ovary functions as “command central” for women’s health, and its decline dramatically accelerates systemic aging. This is ovarian aging . And if you’re a woman over 35, it’s already happening to you...

U.S. FDA Reminds Over 2,200 Medical Companies to Disclose Trial Results

Image
FDA Commissioner Marty Makary The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has reminded more than 2,200 medical product companies and researchers of the requirements to submit certain clinical trial results information to ClinicalTrials.gov .  Companies and researchers often fail to disclose negative trial results , resulting in significant gaps in the public record and a publication bias that obscures the true landscape of drug development outcomes—overrepresenting successes and underrepresenting failures. This gap can also create a distorted perception of the safety and efficacy of medical products.   According to an internal analysis, 29.6% of studies that are highly likely to fall under mandatory reporting requirements have no results information submitted to ClinicalTrials.gov. Studies subject to the mandatory reporting requirements include interventional studies with a U.S. nexus and an FDA-regulated product that are past the deadline to report; it excludes Phase 1 and...
